Our Story: Finding Light in the Water
In 2020, as the world came to a standstill and restrictions limited our daily lives, I found myself seeking solace in nature. Now in my 40s, I discovered the joy of fishing for the very first time. My journey began at a serene, beautifully managed mountain fishing area in Japan.
Casting my line into the crystal-clear water, I caught stunning Yamame (cherry salmon) and Rainbow trout—fish nurtured in environments so pure they were a delight to eat. But what truly captivated me that day wasn't just the catch; it was the tiny, intricately designed tool that made it possible: the lure.
I was mesmerized by the astonishing variety and precision of these lures. As I dug deeper, I discovered a hidden world. There are nearly 50 lure manufacturers in Japan, ranging from large, renowned brands to small, dedicated artisanal workshops, all pouring their passion into creating these functional works of art.
A Mission to Connect Japanese Craftsmanship with the World
Through my work in cross-border e-commerce, I was fortunate enough to connect directly with some of these Japanese tackle manufacturers. However, behind their beautiful products lay a growing concern: Japan's domestic fishing population has been steadily declining. These passionate creators were searching for ways to share their traditional craftsmanship and innovative designs beyond Japan's borders.
Hearing their stories, I knew I had to help. After countless meetings with dedicated lure manufacturers and specialized wholesalers, we carefully selected the finest, most representative Japanese lures.
This is how Break Through was born.
