G-SHOCK
CASIO G-SHOCK is a watch brand introduced by Casio in 1983 and is known for its shock resistance and high functionality. The background to this was the intense competition in the watch market at the time, and the need to develop an innovative watch that was shock resistant, as conventional watches were vulnerable to shocks. A project team led by Kikuo Ibe tackled this issue.
Ibe's team adopted a case with a floating structure to protect the internal movement from external shocks. The first G-SHOCK model, the DW-5000C, was introduced in 1983 and attracted attention for its durability and robustness.
G-SHOCK has continued to evolve since then, and is equipped with a variety of features such as waterproofness, anti-magnetic, high-temperature resistance, and low-temperature resistance. It was supported by a wide range of users, including outdoor enthusiasts, athletes, and the military. Furthermore, collaboration models with fashion brands and artists have also appeared and are attracting attention in the fashion industry.
CASIO G-SHOCK has become an icon in the watch world and enjoys continued success due to its durability and high functionality.
